Why the name Haya

ज्ञानानन्दमयं देवं निर्मलस्फटिकाकृतिम् ।
आधारं सर्वविद्यानां हयग्रीवमुपास्महे ॥
jñānānandamayaṁ devaṁ nirmala-sphaṭikākṛtim, ādhāraṁ sarva-vidyānāṁ hayagrīvam upāsmaheWe honour Hayagriva, made of knowledge and joy, clear as a flawless crystal, the support of all learning.Opening verse of the Hayagriva Stotram by Vedanta Desika

Haya takes its name from Hayagriva, honoured across India as the god of learning. In Sanskrit, haya means horse and grīva means neck: he is pictured with the head of a horse. The old stories tell how he brought the Vedas back when they were lost, returning knowledge to the world. Students have long remembered him before their studies and their exams. Haya carries the same wish for every student: learning that is clear, and stays with you.

Free, always

Students will never pay for Haya. No ads inside the study pages, and no sponsor will ever decide what you read.

Your data

Haya is invite-only. To keep your devices in step, your Haya name (never your real name), course, subjects, exam dates and progress (topics read, quiz scores) are saved online, linked to your invite code. Your PIN and recovery code are stored only in scrambled form. Only you, on your own devices, and the Haya admin can see your progress. Your weekly circle shows students on the same course your Haya name and this week's credits; you can turn off Show me in my circle on the Week page. No phone number or email is collected, nothing is sold or shared, and there are no ads. Display settings stay on each device. To delete your online data, use Delete my data in Me, or write to the support address below.

Your saved data is kept in a database in Singapore, and the site runs on a server in Germany. Haya is published by Jaspar Studio, which is responsible for this data (see Who makes Haya).

Where the content comes from

Every sheet is mapped to your syllabus (school board or university) and written in our own words from the standard textbooks on it. Each course is checked separately before it goes live, and teacher review is in progress. Use Haya alongside your class notes and textbook, not instead of them. The practice questions are ours; they are not official question papers.
