- 2 · Nature. Parties are basically political; pressure groups are not mainly political.
- 3 · Aim. Parties seek power to form the government; pressure groups only influence those in power.
- 4 · Elections. Parties nominate candidates and contest elections; pressure groups do not contest, though they may back a party.
- 5 · Ideology and scope. Parties are tied to ideologies and have national policies; pressure groups have specific, particular interests.
- 6 · Close in one line. So parties seek power, while pressure groups seek influence.
Scoring tip: Write each difference as a pair: party first, then pressure group. A point about only one side loses its mark.
