Explain the scope, quality policy and quality objectives of a food processing company, with examples.
How to lay out the answer. Follow the frame, then write it in your own words.
1 · Open in two lines. A food company's quality system starts with its scope, quality policy and quality objectives. Together they set the boundary, the promise and the targets.
2 · Scope. Products, processes, sites, departments, standards followed and exclusions. Give the dairy example.
3 · Draw the quality pyramid. [Diagram: pyramid from top: Quality policy → Quality objectives → Procedures and SOPs → Records]
5 · Example policy. Write four or five lines for a dairy or bakery, ending with the signature line.
6 · Quality objectives. SMART targets with measure and target, e.g. 100% lots tested for adulterants; 20% fewer complaints by March; 100% staff trained.
7 · In a hospital kitchen. Zero diet errors and every tray served hot and on time are objectives a dietitian can measure.
8 · Close in one line. Policy sets the direction, objectives measure progress, and SOPs make it happen on the floor.
Scoring tip: Always write a sample policy and at least two objectives in a table. Examiners look for SMART.
