Define recruitment. Explain the sources of recruitment for a food service unit.
How to lay out the answer. Follow the frame, then write it in your own words.
1 · Open in two lines. Recruitment is searching for prospective employees and stimulating them to apply (Flippo). It follows job analysis and comes before selection.
2 · Draw a chart. [Chart: Sources → Internal (promotion, transfer, ex-employees, referrals) and External (advertisement, exchange, campus, agency, walk-in)]
3 · Internal sources. Examples with merits (cheap, known, motivating) and demerits (limited choice).
4 · External sources. Examples with merits (wide choice, new ideas) and demerits (cost, risk).
5 · In a real kitchen. A senior helper is promoted to cook; a new baker is hired through a catering college.
6 · Close in one line. A good unit mixes both sources to keep staff motivated and bring in new skills.
Scoring tip: Give each source one food service example. A two-branch chart saves words.
