Define resources. Classify them and explain their characteristics.
How to lay out the answer. Follow the frame, then write it in your own words.
1 · Open in two lines. Resources are the means available to a person or family to reach goals. Management is the wise use of these resources.
2 · Draw a classification chart. [Diagram: Resources → Human (time, energy, knowledge, skills, attitudes) and Non-human (money, material goods, community facilities)]
3 · Human resources. Time, energy, knowledge, skills and abilities, interests and attitudes. Skills and knowledge grow with use and training.
4 · Non-human resources. Money, material goods and community facilities such as schools, parks and ration shops.
5 · Other classifications. Individual and shared; natural and man-made; economic and non-economic.
6 · Characteristics.
Limited and useful (have utility).
Interchangeable and interrelated.
Manageable and varying in accessibility.
7 · Nutrition link. Knowledge of low-cost nutrient-rich foods and community food schemes stretch a small food budget.
8 · Close in one line. Because resources are limited, families must know, combine and conserve them.
Scoring tip: The classification chart is quick to draw and earns marks on its own. Add one home example to every characteristic.
