What is cancer? Write its types, causes and treatment.

1. 1 · Define. Cancer is uncontrolled division of abnormal cells. It forms a malignant tumour that spreads (metastasis).
2. 2 · Types.
   • Carcinoma: epithelial tissue
   • Sarcoma: bone and muscle
   • Leukaemia: bone marrow and blood
   • Lymphoma: lymph nodes
3. 3 · Causes.
   • Physical: UV rays, X-rays
   • Chemical: tobacco, benzene, asbestos
   • Biological: viruses such as HPV
4. 4 · Treatment. Surgery, radiation therapy (cobalt-60), chemotherapy and immunotherapy (interferons).
5. 5 · Link to daily life. Gutka and tobacco chewing cause mouth cancer in India, so avoid all tobacco.
6. 6 · Close in one line. Early detection greatly improves the chance of cure.
