10-mark answer frame

Classify exercise. Add a note on specific strengthening exercises and the health benefits of exercise and yoga.

How to lay out the answer. Follow the frame, then write it in your own words.

  1. 1 · Open in two lines. Exercise is planned, structured and repetitive physical activity done to improve or keep fitness. It is a part of physical activity.
  2. 2 · Draw a classification chart. [Chart: exercise → by energy system, muscle action, purpose, pattern, intensity, with two examples under each]
  3. 3 · Explain each basis.
    • Aerobic vs anaerobic.
    • Isotonic (concentric, eccentric), isometric, isokinetic.
    • Endurance, strength, flexibility, balance.
    • Continuous vs interval.
  4. 4 · Strengthening exercises.
    • Squats and lunges for legs; push-ups for chest; rows for back; plank for core.
    • Principles: overload, specificity, recovery, FITT; 2-3 days a week, 8-12 repetitions.
  5. 5 · Health benefits of exercise. Heart, glucose control, body fat, bone density, posture, mood and lower disease risk.
  6. 6 · Yoga. Asanas for flexibility and balance, pranayama for breathing and calm, meditation for stress and sleep.
  7. 7 · Nutrition link. Strength gains need enough energy and protein spread over the day.
  8. 8 · Close in one line. A mix of aerobic, strength, flexibility and yoga work gives all-round fitness.

Scoring tip: Name one exercise for each muscle group; a small table is faster than paragraphs.
